Climb4Life - Hera 2014
For my service learning hours I went to Utah and participated in the HERA Climb4Life foundation program. This is a program for ovarian cancer awareness and to raise money for the research of the cancer. It was a very good learning experience, I have learned a lot about ovarian cancer and ways I could help out in the community. It also taught me that there are ways that I could get involved and I could make a change even though I am only one person, I can still make a difference. It was also a good feeling knowing I’m being helpful in solving a problem that could change the world.
I really enjoyed the Climb4Life program and I am looking forward to helping out and participating in future programs. After helping raise money for the researcher our school went out to Utah and went rock climbing as an award but also a powerful way to show people that we need to make a change, and it also shows cancer patients that they shouldn’t let sickness slow you down. The HERA project is excellent at making really powerful statements through their program and what they do, I’m glad I was able to be a part of it.
